The shift toward work-from-office is becoming increasingly visible in technology hiring. Careernet data shows WFO’s share of technology requisitions rising from approximately 28% in its 2025 sample to 43% in 2026. Hybrid’s share fell from 70% to 56%, while remote remained below 2%.
Careernet’s data suggests that the shift is not simply a return to the old office model. Employers are increasingly differentiating between roles that require physical proximity and those that can continue to operate through hybrid arrangements.
Neelabh Shukla, Chief Business Officer, Careernet, said, “The shift towards WFO is being driven by the increasing need for collaboration, faster decision-making and closer alignment between business and technology teams, particularly as organisations move from experimentation to implementation.” Shukla added that the change is particularly visible in roles involving implementation, integration and closer interaction with business stakeholders.
