As AI accelerates the discovery of cybersecurity vulnerabilities, organizations may face a growing backlog of security flaws requiring human intervention. This could drive demand for experienced cybersecurity professionals, even as AI becomes increasingly capable of identifying and fixing vulnerabilities.
Speaking to India Today Tech, Neelabh Shukla, Chief Business Officer, Careernet Group, said, “As AI identifies vulnerabilities faster, organisations may initially face a growing backlog of fixes, increasing demand for experienced cybersecurity professionals.”
Highlighting how cybersecurity roles will evolve alongside AI, Shukla said, “Organisations will increasingly need experts who can secure AI-driven systems, investigate sophisticated attacks, and validate automated fixes.” He added, “AI may reduce demand for repetitive cybersecurity tasks, but it will also create opportunities for professionals with advanced technical and security skills.”
On workforce readiness, Shukla noted, “Software engineers should have a strong foundation for transitioning into cybersecurity, particularly in application security, DevSecOps, cloud security, and product security.” However, he emphasized that this transition requires additional expertise in secure coding, threat modeling, vulnerability management, and incident response.
