Pune women have reason to celebrate, and why not! Their city, Maharashtra’s cultural capital, has emerged as the top destination for hiring women workforce, according to a study.
A survey conducted by Careernet on ‘Moving Towards Equality – An Overview of the Hiring Trends for 2022’ provides an overview of the hiring trends of working women in India and across industries. In terms of hiring female applicants, Pune, Hyderabad, and Chennai are the top three cities, whereas Delhi/NCR recruited the fewest among tier-1 cities.
According to data from the World Bank, in 2020, women’s labour force participation rate was 47.9 percent, compared to men’s rate of 75.6 percent. However, companies are recognising the benefits of having a diverse workforce and are actively working towards achieving gender balance in their organisations. Based on Careernet’s internal data, career portals of employers, and month-on-month hiring trends, the company analysed a sample size of about 16,000 placements last year. The average percentage of total women candidates hired saw a steep drop from 31 per cent to 12.5 percent.
Please note that Careernet does not practice charging a placement fee from any job seeker across profiles. Word of caution to the fraudulent news and information, if anyone demands any kind of charges from you, in the name of Careernet Consulting.
