India’s semiconductor design talent market is witnessing strong momentum from small-scale GCCs, with centers employing fewer than 5,000 professionals emerging as key hiring drivers, according to our latest report.
The report also highlights a shift from traditional large GCC-led demand to a more diversified ecosystem, driven by specialized semiconductor design mandates and expanding global R&D operations.
“For years, semiconductor hiring in India was largely a large-GCC story, with a handful of marquee names driving the bulk of demand. What we are seeing now is the rise of a far more distributed ecosystem. Small and mid-sized GCCs are no longer operating in the shadow of large enterprises; they are increasingly building highly specialized teams around chip design, embedded systems, AI acceleration, and product engineering. This signals a structural shift in how global semiconductor companies are viewing India — not just as a scale hub, but as a strategic innovation base,” said Neelabh Shukla, our Chief Business Officer.
