In the latest episode of DEI-LOGS, we had the pleasure of hosting Kafeel Jafri, a multifaceted individual with an MBA from XIME. After 6 years in BFSI, he followed his passion for storytelling and theatre. Today, as a DEI facilitator, Posh trainer, and Daastango, Kafeel uses storytelling and theatre in corporate workshops to convey the nuances of diversity and inclusion. He has collaborated with clients such as Cipla, Merck, Barclays, Flipkart, and many more.
Kafeel Jafri shared his journey from a mainstream corporate career to DEI training. He explained how social conditioning leads to unconscious bias and gender discrimination, resulting in workplace microaggressions. Kafeel highlighted a powerful quote, “When we are accustomed to privilege, equality feels like oppression,” citing an incident where a senior leader made a sexist remark during a training session. He emphasised the transformative power of art, artistic expression, and storytelling in challenging these biases, evoking empathy, stimulating critical thinking, and promoting understanding of diverse perspectives, fostering a deeper appreciation for diversity and inclusion.
