In a slight reprieve to engineering colleges grappling with one of the worst-ever placement seasons, top software services exporters such as Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), HCLTech and Accenture have either made or are on the verge of giving job offers to graduates from the Class of 2024.
Campus hirings are lower than last year but with offers lately trickling in from some IT giants, the colleges see a glimmer of hope.
“Post TCS….other IT major behemoths may also visit the campuses. Campus hiring is integral for the IT services firms. They may miss out or delay one or two recruitment cycles…but they are soon likely to come back with a bang,” said Anshuman Das, cofounder, Careernet, a staffing and recruitment services firm based in Bengaluru. Das estimates overall campus hiring to be about 30% lower this year compared to the last season.
