Data shows a phenomenal increase in women applying for jobs on various platforms coupled with a majority of them in the process of rejoining the workforce. But to keep the momentum, industry leaders highlight India Inc’s need to give space for flexibility and more avenues for female candidates.
Covid-19 has acted as a catalyst, accelerating the adoption of diversity and inclusion (D&I) agenda across sectors. Job portals and upskilling platforms have reported a surge in participation from women candidates showing that workforce participation is no longer exclusive.
For instance, Naukri said its job platform in 2021 received 2,113 lakh women job applications (25 per cent overall) as compared to 1,687 lakhs in 2020 and 1,410 lakhs in 2019.
